It's really quite irksome when I write a humongous hilarious post on my phone and all of sudden it decides to cease existing. AH YES MY FAVORITE.
While many of you are celebrating your new years with your homies at parties or by doing something insanely fun, I am celebrating by doing nothing but writing a beautiful blog post for all my avid readers. Yes, the all exciting nothing on new years eve. I guess nothing doesn't really count, because I'm sitting in a chair, I'm breathing/blinking/typing/living/thinking/being so cool it hurts. But yes, no wild parties for me. This makes a good...18 years in a row? Don't want to break any traditions.
Today was dorm day. And by dorm day I mean unpacking my whole life out of two 60 pound suitcases into a room about the size of a closet. This is not an exaggeration. Let me paint a picture for you.
Welcome to Hale (ha-lay; dorm) 3, room 101B. The door is a pale lavender color, something which may have been cute but has faded so much that you can't really tell. Insert key into the slot, and you're inside. That thing that's blocking the door from opening all the way? That would be my bed, my new throne from which I will rule the school. Behind the door is a small nightstand, the same shade of weird lavender as the door. To your right is a big lavender metal box; this is now my closet. It looks like a locker, but don't get too excited. It's not. Next to the locker lookalike is another smaller lavender metal box. This is now my desk and extra closet space. On the other side of that is the roomies metal desk. Look to the left, at the foot of my bed, and there's the roomies closet. Against the far wall is another bed, this would also be the roomies. If you take a gander at the left wall, you'll see that the upper portion is covered in cork board, on which is a weird lavender color guard. This is where the decorations go. Below the cork board is my bed, which we've already covered.
Sounds fantastic, doesn't it? Yeah it's tiny, yeah the carpet is basically concrete, yeah the purple color is something out of a nightmare, yeah it doesn't smell very good, yeah the walls are dirty, yeah it'll be a huge adjustment, yeah everything is metal. But ya wanna know something? I'M ECSTATIC. This is going to be the best semester ever.
Setting up my new life took about an hour. There's still a lot to be done, but I think it's coming together nicely. The walls need some decorating, and I need to throw down on an air freshener asap - overall it just needs some good Annie magic. I decided to wait on hanging up the Queen Anne banner in fear that the roomie would judge me before she even got to lay her eyes upon my beauty.
Roomie is still MIA. I haven't met her, and apparently she hasn't even checked in yet. Maybe she's got 3 eyes, weighs 593 pounds, and only bathes in soy sauce. Maybe she's part Egyptian and only speaks in hieroglyphs. Maybe she wears shirts on her legs and pants on her arms. Maybe she's amish. All I know as of right now, 6:09 on December the 31st, is that her name is Cynthia and she's from California. I'm really REALLY hoping we get along, because the campus is not big enough for two crowns, ya feel me?
After the great dorm was basically finished, we headed up to the north shore. We had some delicious lunch at a Mexican joint named Cholo's, then meandered up to the beach. It was sunny today, which was mucho excelente and also mucho caliente. It's so weird to me that it's the end of December and it's over 80 degrees. Ay carumba. We indulged on some post-beach treats at a rad place called Ted's Bakery. We had some chocolate custard cream pie that was absolutely unreal. If you're ever in the North Shore, that's the place to go.
Don't do drugs - don't kiss people tonight.

Well - the plane didn't crash and I made it safely to the island of Oahu. I feel like that lame college student that's blogging about her lame college life BUT WHATEVER.
The 6 hour flight was only minorly (not a word) brutal. Here were my first world problems.
-My seat was up against a divider, meaning that the seats wouldn't recline. No reclining on my flight to Hawaii? Be still my soul - I almost had to refuse the flight because this was just unacceptable for someone of my royalty and stature. (pure sarcasm, people)
-I was crammed up against the wall with a semi-awful window view. I had to lean forward a whole 33 degrees to get a full few out of the plane. I'm suing for back stress.
-I fear turbulence and also flying over water. It's a fear that's just come upon me recently - I fear falling out of my sky into a watery grave, even though when you crash in a plane, you're basically dead over land or sea. But turbulence is enough to make my chest constrict and my palms sweat enough to fill several gallons of water (not the kind you'd want to drink)
BUT first world problems and all, we made it. Guys, this place in inrediblé. That's fancy for incredible, but I think you're smart enough to figure that out. It's so green and lush - like something from a fantasy. It's paradise here, and I'm blessed to be able to grace the island with my presence (sarcasm again).
The north shore is phenomenal right now. BYU is about 30-45 minutes away, which is unfortunate. The surf is HUGE, which is something the north shore is known for. The triple crown surfing competition just ended about a week and half ago, and I'm pretty bummed that I missed it. You wouldn't believe the huge waves - I'll try to get some pictures when I get back there later this week.
Since we've been here for approximately 30 hours, we've done approximately 3 things. One of those was going to BYU today for the great and incredible and oh so exciting first campus visit. I got to get my arm poked for my TB test, and...I got to see my new dorm! It's about the size of a shoebox, but I absolutely LOVE IT. I haven't met my roommate yet - I get to do that tomorrow. I hope she feels honored sharing a room with the queen (do I have to keep pointing out the sarcasm or do you understand it now?) Following the dorm tour, we trekked to Target and Costco and spent ashameful amount of money on dorm furnishings. You betcha I'm going first thing in the morning to set it up and you betcha it's gonna be the best dorm room on the whole campus.
I'll finish here and let you gaze in wonder at these incredible professional pictures that I have.

here's an interesting fact for anyone curious
put 3 people in a small space and after 8 hours you'll have some grumpy and sassy, borderline homicidal people on your hands.
welcome to the family!
i've decided to go on a social media (instagram and snapchat) hiatus until i leave. How will I do it, you ask? Spend endless amounts of time on tumblr until my eyes roll back in their sockets and I can no longer move my hands.
You're welcome. Enjoy this picture.

For those of you reading this from below freezing temperatures, I apologize.
I am currently posting from the motorhome where it's a chilly 48 degrees outside at midnight. I cannot complain, because back home it's 27 degrees and it's been snowing today.
I was not built for cold, which gives meaning to the feelings of happiness that I'm currently feeling.
Since I'm off of twitter, I'm attempting to get back into the blogging world. Forgive me for my many mistakes.
anyways.
The good news: I'm out of Utah for the next 5 months.
The bad news: This is way harder than I thought.
Leaving home was quite bitter sweet. I'm happy to be going on to a bigger adventure, but leaving my friends behind has been much more challenging than I thought it was going to be. I would be lying if I told you that I didn't shed a couple tears as we got on the freeway on the way out of town. This is the end of an era for me, and it's really weird. I'll only be gone for 4 months, but that's 4 months of uncertainty.
life begins at the end of your comfort zone
I came into this thinking that I was so ready to go and so ready to leave home. But I realized how much I'm going to miss everyone, and that's what's been so hard.
Well, it's too late to turn back now.
see ya never utah.

sue me for double posting, but i just couldn't resist.
everyone knows this simple equation:
i would LOVE to take anyone else's pictures before i'm outta here for good - let me know and we'll work something out!
everyone knows this simple equation:
camera + white girl = photographer
while avoiding homework and putting off studying for finals, i took pictures of my sweet friend breecia. she is GORGEOUS. we took a trip up to sundance and then to a cute christmas tree farm. enjoy. there are so many more, but here are a few of my very favorites.
i would just like to inform all of you that i have 5 days until i am no longer utah's problem. 5 DAYS PEOPLE. we're going down to arizona this coming friday, which means that i'll be out of here sooner than i thought. as i've said before 1234 times, i'm leaving the 29th of this month.
to think that it's really coming down the home stretch is so incredibly weird to me. i've waited months and months for this and it's almost here. if i'm being completely honest, i'm nervous about leaving utah. i'm also a little bit sad. thinking that i'll be away from home for a long time..that's a lot to think about. i won't be able to lounge on my red couch for 9 hours straight doing nothing wrapped up in a blanket. but hey..i guess the beach will have to do for now..
i think something that's really come out of this experience is that i've kind of realized who is worth my time and who isn't. i can count on one hand the number of people who have tried to get in contact with me before i leave. i don't mean to sound like a whiny girl. but it's a little frustrating. BUT whatever - life goes on and there are bigger things for me to be worrying about, like my math final that's on monday. whatever right?
BEFORE I FORGET.
on wednesday i got a perm. an actual perm. i thought that since i'm already lazy and it's so humid in hawaii, not doing my hair would be super awesome. yeah, i thought that until i turned into a feral homeless child who hasn't brushed her hair in months. i look like a ski bum.
